Haeseni Coat of Arms

The Hereditary Semi-Absolute Monarchy that is the composed government in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska has powers ranging from the Crown Absolute to the Aulic Council through to the Royal Duma halls and in and throughout the city at large.

His Majesty, King Sigismund and his Aulic Councillors comprised a Royal Reform that was desired by the many. This Royal Reform sought to reconstruct the Aulic Council or otherwise known as the Privy Council, which is tasked with the efficient governance and prosperous maintenance of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska.

In a decree labeled, ‘Royal Decree of Council Reform, 323 E.S.’ The edict formally recognizes the Palatine, the Speaker of the Duma, the Marshal, the Seneschal, the High Justicar, The Minister of the Treasury, the Eye of Karov and the Royal Curator with permanent seats.

Throughout this decree which was made public knowledge outlines the duties and obligations of each position and the powers and rights of said position. Overall, this edict of reform reconstructed the then outdated Aulic Council and will hopefully see change in regards to how the government is run.

We the writers at B&K Publishing seek to recommend that you Our readers read more in depth the edict at hand for a more thorough account of what specifically is outlined and changed.

For a more thorough analysis of the reforms, please refer to the documentation labeled ‘Royal Decree of Council Reform, 323 ES’

AN ADDRESS FROM OUR PALATINE

The Coat of Arms of Valwyck

Our Palatine, Lord Petyr Baruch issued a statement regarding the Scyfling threat along the Haeseni coastlines to the public eye earlier last year which stated that we as a greater populace are ‘far from lost’. From the eastern reaches of Vasiland to the peak of Fort Buck to the northern stronghold of Valwyck to our northern neighbors of Metterden, we as a Kingdom will prevail and venture out victorious.

It is the duty of any Haeseni born to defend their homeland and this has been shown since the Scfylings arrived alongside our coasts. The Baruch, Ruthern and Vanir households have remained stalwart and everlasting throughout evercontiuning barrage of their own homes. Our military has maintained a prevalent presence throughout these troubling times and have continued to instill Haeseni spirit and pride.

‘Only together can we overcome this dangerous peril we find ourselves in today, only together can we give meaning to the lives of those brave men and women who have fallen in our stead. Together, we will fight them with the combined strength of the Royal Army, the Hounds, and the peerage of His Majesty. Together, we will struggle in grueling defense of our motherland, every castle, every road, every port and every fort will prove increasingly more difficult for the pagans to capture from our holy grasp. Only together can this be achieved. We would have perished had we not persisted!’

HISTORICAL FIGURE OF THE YEAR

Lerald Vyronov

Lord Palatine of Haense

Duke of Carnatia

86a198ae265447d48d7d0889d5117fd0.png

A mural of Lerald Vyronov circa. 1730

Lerald Vyronov was a Haeseni nobleman and the Duke of Carnatia, serving as Lord Palatine from 1720 till his death in 1732. Lerald belonged to an ancient though relatively minor Haeseni aristocratic family, and though his clan was usually overshadowed by the elder Karovic clans, he became a leading Feudalist in the Duma, and became one of the spokesmen for the preservation of ancient noble rights.

In 1718 the War of the Two Emperors was escalating and Leopold Stafyr, who was Lord Palatine of Haense and had appointed Lerald as his Palatine Aspirant, would die defending his fief against a raiding party. Defying all expectations, King Marius II named Prince Georg Alimar the new Lord Palatine and instead asked Lerald to become Lord Speaker of the Duma. After a tense discussion with King Marius II, Lerald walked out of the court in anger. Although a few hours later he would send a letter to Prince Georg, accepting the role of Lord Speaker. In a tragic turn of events, King Marius II was assassinated one saint’s day after the events at court by a disgruntled royal bastard and Prince Georg was declared regent for Marius’ young son Andrik. Merely a saint’s week later Prince Georg, his brother Prince Godfric and Lerald’s brother Ulric were captured by Renatus’ Dragon Knights. Both Princes were quickly killed, while Ulric miraculously survived. By convention the jurisdiction of the realm then befell on Lerald.

After taking over the regency in 1720, Lerald subsequently served as Lord Speaker for four years until naming the young prodigy Konrad Stafyr Lord Speaker. It was during these late stages of the War of the Two Emperors that Lerald led the negotiations to end the war and save the war exhausted realm. These negotiations culminated into the Treaty of Leuven (1721), which ended the war whilst ceding southern territory to the heartlander estates.

After King Andrik III was crowned in the year 1724, Lerald continued serving him as Lord Palatine. He saw moderate success in rebuilding the war exhausted realm, including a sizable regrowth of the army. His tenure also coincided with a regrowth of Haeseni scholarism and literacy, and by the peak of his career the kingdom held the highest literacy rate and population growth as according to the imperial censuses. For his service to the realm, Lerald was named the Duke of Carnatia in 1728.

It was not long after this that rumors started to spread about the so-called ‘Vyronov Conspiracy’. According to these rumors, Lerald was involved in the murder of King Marius II, Prince Georg and Prince Godfric and manipulated the young King Andrik during his regency. It was during this time that Lerald became increasingly paranoid and avoidant of public appearances. In 1732 he contracted a mysterious illness and died after a short sickbed.

Editor’s Note:

In Regards to the Final Edition.

We the writers at B&K Publishing wish to thoroughly commend our readers for their continued praise for Our esteemed state newspaper of the Golden Crow Chronicles. This edition will be the final edition published for the foreseeable future by our publishing office. Both my colleague Sigmar and I have appreciated the honor of writing this newspaper for the Haeseni populace for nearly fifteen years, but being the sole writers of this paper has taken a toll on our passion for it, leaving us burnt out for the time being. Due to this, our thirteenth and final edition has been published for you Our readers to read for a final time.
