Major changes are coming to the Royal Duma as the decree of dissolution has been sent out. This decree dissolved the benches of Royal Duma, meaning that The Feudalist and Centralist manifesto’s and their loose parties are hereby null and void indefinitely. This comes after the convening of the Committee of 1732, which founded the benches, found that their use had run thin and they had become too entrenched in bureaucracy. Duma now will return to its original form with no established parties, the authors hope this will bring a new era of prosperity to the halls of the Royal Duma and applaud the decision of the Royal Herzen Henrik Vanir.

The Edict of Reform has brought on a new era of  politics in the Imperial government. This edict repeals and replaces the Edict of Establishment, installing a new form of legislature and reforming the old House of Lords with some changes. This effectively dissolves the Senate and installs the House of Commons. The House of Commons will have 15 seats in total and consist of two parties, the Everardines and the Josephites. The Josephites stem from the late Emperor Joseph of House Marna and the liberties he laid out in his circular letters, however they take a more liberal stance on these outlined rights. The Everardines stem from Saint Everard and consist of the conservative traditionalist values that humanity has held onto for ages. This new Legislative body will be interesting to follow as it is sure to bring on interesting debate and new policy. The authors implore the readers to follow these parties closely and make an educated decision on who to pledge your support to.

The House of Lords is also an interesting readdition to the imperial government as it will serve as a body that consists of imperial peerage that the Emperor can call in and out of effect. They will serve not as much as a legislative body, but more as a revisional body. They will also legislate on matters concerning ennoblement, aristocracy, and conflicts over inheritance. While this upper house will not directly involve the lives of many of the citizens of Haense, it is still an important part of the imperial diet, and something that the readers should be attentive to.

THE VALWYCK RELIC BALL

The congregation of visitors in the ballroom

Nobles and peasants throughout the Kingdom of Haense gathered in the Duchy of Valwyck, the northernmost territory of the realm and the home of house Baruch and its cadet house. This was an exciting event celebrating the reclaiming of a house relic, the Crown of St. Otto of Vanderfell. There was much eating, drinking, and dancing all throughout the ball as people enjoyed the lovely music played by the expensive bards. Notable attendees were Terrence May, who was named Dancing Queen of the Kingdom of Haense; his Majesty Sigismund II, and the Lord Palatine Otto Sigmar. Many visitors enjoyed the company and pleasantries of their host, Duke Petyr Baruch and the Baruch family. The authors partook in their fair share of drinking and dancing as well. We hope to see more jovial events such as these in the peerage and family homes of the Kingdom’s nobility.

THE KING’S ADVISORY CABINET

Ekaterinburg Palace, Haense
The First Assembly of the Advisory Cabinet, 1758
By Edward Napier

The King sees it fit to formally establish his Advisory Cabinet. Revealing his ministers to the public eye. As recognized by its title, the Cabinet acts not as an executive branch of governance, but rather as consultants yielding to the authority of their monarch – weighing in their own personal experiences and skills in order to aid the process of ruling. However, with their newfound influence derived from being the King’s closest compatriots, they are afforded a great deal of influence. Which, through their Sovereign, are they capable of expanding such upon the Realm.

There are little to no requirements for becoming a part of the Cabinet, one could be of Qalisheen, Kaedreni, Renatian, Illatian; only diligence, loyalty, and competency are expected of those wishing to make their presence known. The King seeks to establish a truly meritocratic system, in which competency is favored prior to any pre-established ancestry. It is in this ambition that a statement is said true; anyone attempting to debase such an initiative shall expect to be reprimanded severely.

It is hoped, with the publication of this document, the People of Haense may garner a greater understanding of the Crown’s machinations. Another veil removed as the King seeks to clear away any uncertainty the public may have with the ruling clique.

COURT AFFAIRS OF 1763

Ekaterinburg Palace, Haense
A print of the inside of the Ekaterinburg Palace throne hall

Copious amounts of petitioners presented their concerns to the Crown as the court summoning of 1763 but three significant affairs took place that will be covered in this synopsis of the Royal Court that occured at the end of 1763.

His Excellency, Lord Palatine Otto Sigmar called forth Frederick Devereux and his entourage to step forward towards the dais after Mister Devereux requested an audience with his Majesty, King Sigismund II. Frederick Devereux presented himself and his entourage as refugees seeking a place to settle after The Governor-General of Curon dismantled his family’s home and titles. Soon after his open plea to His Majesty with his denizens gathered around was made, King Sigismund ordered him to demand sole fealty to his name and kingdom in return for the right to retain noble pedigree within the realm of Haense. Soon after His Majesty made this order known, Frederick knelt down before him and began swearing the oath to the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and the royal family of Barbanov. After the vow and oath to his new liege-lord had concluded it was announced that Lord Devereux would rise there as a member of Haense’s noble peerage. His Excellency, The Lord Palatine would handle the finer details of Lord Devereux’s settlement and colonization on the recently acquired Suffonian lands. A more thorough timeline of the swearing of oaths and discussion before and after hand can be found at the transcribed script at the end of this synopsis.

After Lord Devereux’s swearing of oaths and rising apart of the noble pedigree of Haense, Lord Palatine Otto Sigmar called forth Lord Herzen, Henrik Vanir forward towards the dais quickly before King Sigismund recognized that he had not forgotten his and his family’s long tenured service that has been offered to this realm. He recognized that that is only expected with ‘leal, loyalty, and diligence.’  But before allowing Lord Henrik to input any response he continued on recognizing that Lord Vanir has gone far beyond what is expected and is far-more deserving of a title of a higher stature than a Barony which later led him to grant Lord Vanir with his family’s ancestral title- The Margraviate of Vasiland. The room soon erupted in cheers and praise for the newly pronounced Margrave; Lord Vanir was left without words to express his gratitude with ultimately allowed His Majesty to quickly retort that there is no words required to show your gratitude, he ushered for him to continue his leal service as he has done for years.

At the end of the Court Summoning of 1763, my colleague Lord Kortrevich brought himself before the dais with a large sum of minas in hand. This large cloth-bag was filled with coins that amounted to 5,000.0 minas. To His Majesty’s surprise, King Sigismund had great appreciation for the unexpected donation from the successful state-newspaper. Although the exchange didn’t conclude there, Lord Viktor sought to personally congratulate Lord Vanir on his pronouncement to Margrave and as a token to amend past wrongs in their family’s past; Lord Viktor opened up the treasury of the House of Kortrevich to assist in the construction of the Vanir keep.

Ennoblement of Devereux

Otto“Frederick Devereux and your entourage, step forward for His Majesty.”

Otto“You requested an audience with His Majesty. You have one now.”

Otto“State your request for the King.”

Frederick: “Your Majesty, as of recent events as I am sure you know… The Governor-General of Curon dismantled my titles and my family’s home. We are but refugees now and we seek a place to settle, so we do not remain homeless.”

Sigismund“Will you swear fealty to my name, and this Kingdom? In return for the right of noble pedigree within this realm, with all its associated responsibilities, duties, and obligations?”

Sigismund: “Haense will settle your people.”

Frederick: “I will.”

Sigismund“Do you, Frederick Devereux, swear yourself to the Kingdom of Haense and the House of Barbanov, to serve faithfully and loyally till the expiration or release of vows?”

Frederick“I do.”

Sigismund“Do you, Frederick Devereux, swear yourself to the protection of the people and the defense of the state, to stand against all foes domestic and foreign?”

Frederick“I do.”

Sigismund“Do you, Frederick Devereux, swear yourself to the profession of the One True Faith, His Prophets, and the Wisdom of the Scrolls?”

Frederick“I do.”

Sigismund“Then I accept you into the fold the pious and true, and never in your course, lest Godan strike you down.”

Sigismund“Rise anew as a member of my peerage, Lord Devereux.”

Sigismund“My Palatine will shale be handling the finer details of your settlement, and colonizing of the recently acquired Suffonian lands.”

Frederick“My thanks, Your Majesty.”

Sigismund“I expect many great things from your service, Lord Devereux.”

Sigismund“Go with God now, the Palatine will schedule a meeting with your leaders in order to finalize the details.”

Frederick“Thank you, Your Majesty.”

Margraviate of Vasiland

Otto“Lord Henrik Vanir, step forward.”

Otto“Kneel.”

Sigismund: “Ah-hah, Lord Vanir.”

Sigismund: “I have not forgotten the services you have offered this realm for all these past years, Lord Vanir.”

Sigismund: “Naturally, it is expected for all of my peerage to act with such leal, loyalty, and diligence.”

Sigismund“But Lord Vanir here, has gone beyond.”

Sigismund“His Baronial Title no longer befits his name.”

Sigismund“I therefore grant upon Lord Vanir his ancestral title – The Margrave of Vasiland. To now be tasked with colonizing the newly acquired Wickwald immediately.”

Sigismund“Margraviate, pardon.

Sigismund“Rise up as Margrave now, rather than Baron.”

Sigismund: “Your charter of land shall be dealt with soon. Whenever the Emperor gets around to it.”

Henrik“Words cannot describe my gratitude, Your Majesty.”

Sigismund“No need for words, Margrave. Show me such in actions.”
Sigismund“Continue to serve our realm with the same diligence you do now.”

Donation by B&K Publishing

Otto“Anyone else?”

Sigismund“Lord Kortrevich?”

Viktor: “Your Majesty.”

Sigismund“What can I do for you?”

Viktor“My colleague and I wish to bring forth a sum of our profits off the successful state-newspaper; ‘The Golden Crow Chronicles.’”

Viktor“Lord Sigmar is taking respite in Valwyck this evening so I wish to present you the sums here this evening.”

Sigismund“Oh? Quite pleasant, indeed.”

Viktor“Lord Vanir, I wish to congratulate you on your pronouncement to Margrave; with that being stated I wish to formally make known that the House of Kortrevich opens up their treasury to assist in the construction of your family’s keep to which I suspect you seek to have built.”

Sigismund“This is greatly appreciated… quite surprising for a newspaper that only sells for two minas a piece..”

Sigismund: “Must have some proper sponsors.”

Viktor: “Da, that is all, Your Majesty.

Sigismund“Many thanks, Lord Kortrevich.”

HISTORICAL FIGURE OF THE YEAR

Count Carr Colborn
First Knight & Lord Steward of Haense
Count of Carrenhal

e200e16e0fdd7b35d1ae377cba251859.png
Recently drafted depiction of Carr Colborn

Carr was born on Athera in the far north where the Slesvician peoples once called Scylfing or Gorundyr originate from. His was a simple birth amongst the tribes most of which were subjugated by the Imperium soon after. While many tribes still held steadfast in their old ways and refused imperial rule some integrated and cast away their past. It was so that his family happened to be integrated, moving to the imperial capital of Petrus of which he called his home for most his youth. The family peddled and traded goods as such being raised in this environment gave him a penchant for the coin. In reality, the man in his young teens hoped to return to the north, to be free and unrestrained as they once were. During a seemingly normal day, the young Carr was ferrying goods only for his path to be obstructed. Infront a host of horses of which a young boy sat at the forefront. The two looked at another and both bore each other a surprisingly similar resemblance. In a move that many questioned at the time, perhaps a twist of fate, the young boy introduced himself as Karl and it was not long until Carr was his friend. There was a seemingly imperceivable trust between the two, the Crow and the Raven.

In times of adulthood, he had served Karl for many years and become one of his most loyal lieutenants. The two were raised by one eccentric Otto the bald which was formative to both their character and skillset as the olden man treated them both with equal interest. During these days they had long since moved north to Ambrosia (later Ayr) of which Otto held his seat. In this north, Carr and Karl were often found attempting to unite the Northmen and Carr was engaged in diplomacy with many of these tribes. With time many joined beneath the young crows banner as a result. It was not long after that the fledgling state of Haense was founded by the newly proclaimed Karl Barbanov, Otto the bald, Carr Colborn and one Tarcell Othoman.

Carr’s claim to fame comes from his extensive work upon fledging Haense’ infrastructure and economy. He created numerous highways to cut through the hinterlands and expanded the weak mining industry to produce on par with their southern neighbours. The fortune he amassed became notorious throughout the realm, and he was one of the richest, and for a time the richest, peers of Oren, owning a fat monopoly upon Haeseni trade and goods. Having long since squired his knightship was completed after he lead a band of Volik tribesmen to clear out the nearby Greater Vvanderfellian Troll lair. These beasts had been an unstoppable menace upon the local tribes as well as the fledgeling trade route, earning him only further respect. As a result, his family did well as his stalwart reputation as the first knight of Haense and eventually as count brought them to newer heights yet they remained humble.

The man was also known as an amateur historian and chronicled numerous novels covering his family’s history and the history of the highlander peoples. Following his death at Adria, he left much of his wealth to the state, and his funds later maintained Haense from total financial disaster during the end of the War of the Ducal Coalition. When a sum of his vault came missing, it created a craze throughout the hinterlands, with numerous treasure-seekers, or Geltisaar, settling throughout Carr’s former trading posts, hoping to find the hidden gold upon his former estates.
